Edward D. “Ted” Walker (1937–2017) was a renowned British maritime artist celebrated for his meticulous oil paintings of historic and contemporary vessels. Born into a lineage of seafarers dating back to 1617, Walker channeled his heritage into a career spanning over five decades, establishing himself as a leading authority on naval authenticity. Perhaps his most notable contribution is his role as the official artist for the RMS Titanic International Artefacts Exhibitions. In this capacity, he produced a definitive series of eighteen paintings that meticulously documented the ship’s journey from construction to its tragic end. Walker’s work is characterized by its “significant historical document” quality, which has earned him commissions from prestigious clients such as the UK Royal Mail and the Cunard Line.
