Texas Pacific Land Trust - Specimen Stock Certificate
Inv# TX1008 Specimen Stock
Specimen Stock.
Texas Pacific Land Trust began in 1888 following the collapse of the Texas and Pacific Railway. Creditors assumed control of roughly 3.5 million acres in West Texas to resolve their debts. They established the trust to sell the land gradually and distribute proceeds to shareholders. Across the decades, the entity retained many valuable mineral and royalty rights while disposing of surface acreage.
Oil discovery in the Permian Basin transformed these extensive holdings into a major financial success. The trust generated consistent income from oil royalties, grazing leases, and land sales without drilling. In January 2021, the historic trust modernized by restructuring into a standard corporation called Texas Pacific Land Corporation. It continues to rank among the largest private landowners in Texas today.
Stock and Bond Specimens are made and usually retained by a printer as a record of the contract with a client, generally with manuscript contract notes such as the quantity printed. Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
