The Hygrade Sylvania Corporation was established in 1931 through the merger of NILCO, Sylvania, and the Hygrade Lamp Company. In 1939, Hygrade Sylvania commenced initial research into fluorescent technology, and later that same year, it showcased the first linear, or tubular, fluorescent lamp at the 1939 New York World's Fair. Additionally, Sylvania was a producer of both vacuum tubes and transistors. In 1942, the company rebranded itself as Sylvania Electric Products Inc.
Stock and Bond Specimens are made and usually retained by a printer as a record of the contract with a client, generally with manuscript contract notes such as the quantity printed. Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
