The Schoolcraft and Three Rivers Railroad Company was formed in 1855 to build a rail line from Schoolcraft Michigan to Three Rivers Michigan. The rail line was not completed until 1867. The company was merged with the St. Joseph Valley Railroad in 1869 and eventually the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern and the New York Central Railroad in 1914.
