20,000 Rials, P-147a, PMG 66 Graded. The rial serves as the official currency of Iran and is divided into 100 dinars. However, due to the rial's minimal purchasing power, the dinar is not commonly utilized in practice. While there is no officially recognized symbol for the currency, the Iranian standard ISIRI 820 established a symbol for typewriter use, which was created by the standards committee. Additionally, the Iranian standards ISIRI 2900 and ISIRI 3342 provide a character code for this symbol. The Unicode Standard includes a compatibility character designated as U+FDFC, known as the RIAL SIGN. Recently, the Iranian Parliament has approved a proposal to eliminate four zeros from the currency, introducing a new currency called the toman, which is named after a former Iranian currency, at an exchange rate of 1 toman equaling 10,000 rials.
