Specimen Stock printed by Security-Columbian Banknote Company. Tyson Fresh Meats, Inc. (previously known as IBP, Inc. and Iowa Beef Processors, Inc.) is a meat packing enterprise located in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota, United States. IBP was recognized as the largest beef packer in the United States and the second largest pork processor. Established as Iowa Beef Packers, Inc. on March 17, 1960, by Currier J. Holman and A.D. Anderson, it launched its inaugural slaughterhouse in Denison, Iowa, thereby reducing the necessity for skilled labor. The original IBP is notably referenced in Eric Schlosser's Fast Food Nation as the entity responsible for the closure of the Chicago meatpacking district due to its industrial methods. In 1967, IBP pioneered the introduction of boxed beef and pork, which were vacuum sealed and offered in smaller portions. This innovation was a significant departure from the conventional practice of shipping products in whole carcass form. Additionally, the boxed meat contributed to energy savings and reduced transportation expenses by eliminating the need to ship fat, bones, and trimmings.
