JBS USA Holdings, Inc. is a food processing enterprise based in the United States and operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Brazilian firm JBS S.A. This subsidiary was established when JBS made its entry into the U.S. market in 2007 through the acquisition of Swift & Company. JBS is renowned for its Wagyu Beef, being the sole certified distributor of Japanese Cattle along the entire eastern seaboard of the United States.

In the 1960s, Swift diversified into various sectors, including insurance and petroleum, leading to the formation of the holding company Esmark in 1973. Two years later, Esmark acquired International Playtex from Meshulam Riklis' Rapid-American Corporation. In 1977, Esmark divested Globe Life Insurance to the Ryan Insurance Group.

Esmark exited the petroleum sector in 1980, selling Vickers Petroleum to Mobil, while Swift's fresh-meat operations were separated into a distinct entity, Swift Independent Packing Company (SIPCO), in the same year. In 1983, Esmark went on to acquire Norton Simon Inc. before being acquired by Beatrice Foods the following year. ConAgra obtained a 50% stake in SIPCO in 1987 and acquired the remaining shares in 1989, the same year it purchased Beatrice Foods. ConAgra subsequently merged SIPCO's operations with those of Monfort, the meatpacking company it had acquired in 1987, and rebranded the division as Swift & Company in 1995.
