Specimen Stock printed by American Bank Note Company. Eaton Corporation PLC is a global power management company headquartered in Ireland, reporting sales of $17.86 billion in 2020. Initially founded in the United States, the firm has its main office in Dublin, Ireland, and an additional administrative location in Beachwood, Ohio. Eaton employs around 92,000 people and supplies products to customers in more than 175 countries. The company's history dates back to 1911 when Joseph O. Eaton, along with his brother-in-law Henning O. Taube and Viggo V. Torbensen, established the Torbensen Gear and Axle Co. in Bloomfield, New Jersey. With financial backing from Torbensen's mother, the company was created to manufacture Torbensen's patented internal-gear truck axle.

In 1914, the company moved to Cleveland, Ohio, to be closer to its main market, the automotive industry. In 1916, the Torbensen Axle Company was incorporated in Ohio, succeeding the New Jersey operation. The following year, Republic Motor Truck Company, the largest client of Torbensen, purchased the company. However, Eaton and Torbensen were unhappy and departed from Republic to form the Eaton Axle Company in 1919. In 1920, the Eaton Axle Company merged with Standard Parts, which later went into receivership that same year and was ultimately liquidated. In 1923, Eaton reacquired the Torbensen Axle Co. from Republic and renamed it the Eaton Axle and Spring Company.
