Specimen Stock printed by Security-Columbian United States Banknote Corporation. Dover Corporation is a conglomerate manufacturer of industrial products based in the United States. Founded in 1955, the company is located in Downers Grove, Illinois. As of 2021, Dover's operations are categorized into five segments: Engineered Products, Clean Energy and Fueling, Imaging & Identification, Pumps & Process Solutions, and Climate and Sustainability Technologies. Dover is part of the S&P 500 index and is traded on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol DOV. In the 2024 Fortune 500, the company was ranked 448. In mid-2010, Dover moved its headquarters from New York to Illinois.

During the 1930s and 1940s, George Ohrstrom Sr., a stockbroker from New York City, acquired four manufacturing firms: C. Lee Cook Company (which produced seals and piston rings), Rotary Lift (known for automotive lifts), C. Norris (which specialized in oil-well pump-sucker rods), and Peerless (which manufactured space heaters). Dover Corporation was officially incorporated in 1947, and in 1955, Ohrstrom appointed Fred D. Durham, the former owner and president of C. Lee Cook Company, to oversee his four companies. That same year, the corporate offices of Dover were established in Washington, D.C., and the company went public on the New York Stock Exchange. Consequently, 1955 is recognized as the official founding year of the company.
