Specimen Stock printed by Security-Columbian United States Banknote Corporation. Incorporated in 1937. Burlington Industries, previously known as Burlington Mills, is a diversified fabric manufacturer located in Greensboro, North Carolina. Established by J. Spencer Love in Burlington, North Carolina in 1923, the company operates in the United States, Mexico, and India, and has a global manufacturing and product development network headquartered in Hong Kong, employing over 8000 individuals across various locations in the United States, Canada, and internationally. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in December 2001. In late 2003, its assets were acquired by International Textile Group (ITG) following the bankruptcy. The carpet division was sold to Mohawk Industries, and the headquarters were vacated in 2004. ITG maintained Burlington as a brand and eventually evolved into Elevate Textiles.

Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
