The Andover National Bank was a significant financial institution in Andover, Massachusetts, with a history stretching back to the early 19th century. First chartered in 1826 and opening for business later that year, the bank's original home was a Federal-style building on Main Street. Over time, its prominence in the community grew, and in 1890, it moved into a grand new Romanesque Revival-style building at 23 Main Street. The new, larger building not only served as the bank's headquarters but also housed other important local tenants, such as the Andover Savings Bank, Merrimack Fire Insurance Company, and the local Masonic lodge.

Throughout the 20th century, the Andover National Bank experienced a series of mergers that ultimately led to its consolidation into larger banking corporations. In 1956, it merged with the Merrimack National Bank to become the Andover and Merrimack National Bank, which was then joined by the Methuen National Bank the following year to form the Merrimack Valley National Bank. This entity was later acquired by BayBanks Inc.. While the bank no longer exists as an independent entity, its legacy lives on through its historic 1890 building, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.
