Stock printed by Western Bank Note Engraving Co., Chicago. Darwin Mining Company was once the second biggest silver mine in California. The mines are about two miles outside of Darwin Townsite, California, a small unincorporated area, roughly halfway between Olancha, California, and Panamint Springs. Although the mines and their miles of tunnels have been closed since the early 1970's, Darwin Mines is privately owned.
