Albert Gallatin Goodall, engraver born Oct. 31, 1826 in Montgomery, Alabama. He served as midshipman in the Texas navy during the Mexican-Texan war. He went to Havana, Cuba in 1844 and learned copperplate engraving. He established himself as a banknote engraver in Philadelphia in 1848. He associated with a company which merged to form American Bank Note Company in 1858. He was president of this company 1874 to 1887. Goodall visited several European and South American countries to obtain foreign contracts for the firm.
