Unissued Stock printed by Security Bank Note Company, Phila. The Famous Players–Lasky Corporation was an American film production and distribution entity established on June 28, 1916, through the merger of Adolph Zukor's Famous Players Film Company—initially created by Zukor as Famous Players in Famous Plays—and the Jesse L. Lasky Feature Play Company. This merger, orchestrated by President Zukor, ultimately led to the incorporation of eight film production firms, positioning the Famous Players–Lasky Corporation as a significant force in the silent film era. Under Zukor's leadership, the company became renowned for its vertical integration within the film industry and its block booking strategies.

On April 1, 1927, the company rebranded itself as the Paramount Famous Lasky Corporation. In September of the same year, the Paramount Famous Lasky Corporation studio located in Astoria (New York City) was temporarily shut down to upgrade its facilities for sound film production. The Famous Players trademark is currently held by the Balaban and Katz Historical Foundation. In 2017, Paramount launched a new film division called Paramount Players, which pays homage to its legacy associated with the Famous Players brand.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
