Handwritten pay order signed by John Lawrence, Ez Williams and John Chenward for payment to buy blankets. Further research needed on Williams.
Capt. John Lawrence (1719-1802), who served as treasurer of the Colony and subsequently the State of Connecticut from 1769 to 1789, is the signatory of this document. During the war, he held the position of commissioner of loans for the nascent nation.
John Cheneward was born in 1737, in Hartford, Hartford, Connecticut, United States. He married Hannah Flagg about 1760, in Connecticut, United States. He was a Captain in the army.
