The Continental Army was several times almost brought to it's knees, but it was not the guns and bayonets of the enemy but hunger and cold that was the chief opponent. There was almost no efficient distributing system for the supplies, and widespread corruption in the commissary departments. Connecticut had one of the best Commissary systems in the thirteen states, and supplied most of the armies blockading the British in New York.
Finn Wadsworth (1750/1751 - 1785), who served as a major under General James Wadsworth from 1776 to 1779. Wadsworth participated in numerous battles; however, due to declining health, he was compelled to withdraw from field service. He continued to contribute to the United States and Connecticut by serving on the Pay-table.
