Charles Thomas Munger (January 1, 1924 – November 28, 2023) was an American investor, businessman, and philanthropist. He served as vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, the conglomerate led by Warren Buffett, who referred to Munger as his closest associate and right-hand man. Munger was also the chairman of Wesco Financial Corporation from 1984 to 2011. In addition, he chaired the Daily Journal Corporation in Los Angeles and was a director at Costco Wholesale Corporation. Known for his emphasis on ethics, Munger once remarked at the 2009 Wesco annual meeting, "Good businesses are ethical businesses. A business model that relies on trickery is doomed to fail."
