Pathé, also known as Pathé Frères, refers to a collection of French enterprises established and initially managed by the Pathé Brothers in France, beginning in 1896. By the early 1900s, Pathé had emerged as the largest global company in film equipment and production, in addition to being a significant manufacturer of phonograph records. In 1908, the company pioneered the newsreel, which was presented in theaters prior to feature films.

Today, Pathé stands as a prominent film production and distribution entity, owning several cinema chains through its subsidiary, Les Cinémas Pathé Gaumont, as well as television networks throughout Europe. It holds the distinction of being the second oldest continuously operating film company, following the Gaumont Film Company, which was founded in 1895. The company was established as Société Pathé Frères (Pathé Brothers Company) in Paris, France, on September 28, 1896, by the four siblings: Charles, Émile, Théophile, and Jacques Pathé. Throughout the early 20th century, Pathé solidified its position as the largest film equipment and production firm globally, while also becoming a key player in the phonograph record industry.

A bond is a document of title for a loan. Bonds are issued, not only by businesses, but also by national, state or city governments, or other public bodies, or sometimes by individuals. Bonds are a loan to the company or other body. They are normally repayable within a stated period of time. Bonds earn interest at a fixed rate, which must usually be paid by the undertaking regardless of its financial results. A bondholder is a creditor of the undertaking.
