Robert Abbott McCoy (1835–1893) was a distinguished American attorney and military officer who served during the American Civil War. Enlisting in the 11th Pennsylvania Reserves in June 1861, he quickly rose through the ranks from 2nd Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel by March 1864. During his service, he acted as an aide to Brigadier General Samuel W. Crawford and was briefly held as a prisoner of war in Richmond's notorious Libby Prison. In recognition of his "gallant conduct" at the Battle of Bethesda Church, he was brevetted Brigadier General of U.S. Volunteers in March 1865.
Following his military service, McCoy returned to civilian life in Pennsylvania, where he became a successful bank cashier and built a significant personal fortune through various investments. Despite his professional success, his later years were marked by profound personal loss following the deaths of his wife and two sons. He passed away in 1893 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. His legacy is often distinguished from his namesake, Major General Robert Bruce McCoy, a World War I veteran and the founder of Wisconsin's Fort McCoy.
Blacklick Creek, a tributary of the Conemaugh River, is approximately 30 miles (48 kilometers) long and flows through western Pennsylvania in the United States. It originates from two forks in western Cambria County, situated on the western side of the Allegheny Mountains. The North Branch, approximately 12 miles (19 kilometers) long, rises north of Colver and flows westward before turning southwest. The South Branch, on the other hand, rises near Revloc and flows westward. The two branches converge at Rexis, near the boundary between Cambria and Indiana counties. The main branch continues its westward journey, receiving Two Lick Creek near Josephine, approximately 10 miles (16 kilometers) south of Indiana. Subsequently, it turns west-southwest and joins the Conemaugh River approximately 3 miles (5 kilometers) west-northwest of Blairsville.
A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
