Coffin, an automobile pioneer, envisioned a “friendly little hotel” that eventually transformed into the world-renowned Cloister at Sea Island. Today, the Sea Island Company operates as a premier destination, holding the distinction of being the only resort in the world to earn four consecutive Forbes Five-Star awards. Since 2016, the resort has been owned by the Anschutz family, who also own its sister property, The Broadmoor in Colorado.
