The Olde York Valley Inn, situated at 3883 E. Market St. in Springettsbury Township, commenced operations in 1958 as a prominent local resort. The establishment boasted over 163 rooms and a range of amenities, including swimming pools, a tavern, and a fitness center. Regrettably, the inn’s fortunes declined, leading to its closure in 1998 primarily due to substantial debt obligations. Subsequently, the property remained vacant for a decade. In September 2007, the inn sustained significant fire damage, prompting the township to request its demolition. Consequently, the building was demolished in 2008. Presently, the vacant site remains unoccupied. On a separate note, an unrelated operating business occupies the former site of the Olde York Valley Inn. The Historic York Inn is situated downtown within the historic Smyser-Bair House, a Victorian mansion that underwent a transformation into a bed and breakfast in the 1980s and 1990s.
A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
