The White Motor Company, an American manufacturer of automobiles, trucks, buses, and agricultural tractors, was in operation from 1900 until 1980. In addition to vehicles, the company also produced bicycles, roller skates, automatic lathes, and sewing machines. Before World War II, the company was headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio. In Springfield, Ohio, the White Diesel Engine Division was responsible for manufacturing diesel engine generators that powered a variety of U.S. military equipment and infrastructure, including Army Nike and Air Force Bomarc launch complexes, guided missile installations, and proving grounds. These facilities played a vital role in the U.S. aerospace defense network, which included structures such as the Texas Towers. Throughout the Vietnam War, the company remained among the Top 100 Defense Contractors, achieving rankings of 87th in Fiscal Year 1965, 77th in 1967, 73rd in 1968, and 89th in 1969. Their production facilities, including the Lansing truck plant in Lansing, Michigan, and the main plant in Cleveland, were engaged in the production, inspection, engineering services, and maintenance of thousands of military and utility cargo trucks, such as the M39, M44, M600, and M602 series. Furthermore, they provided spare parts, including cylinder heads, diesel and gasoline engines, along with their accessories.

Around 1898, Thomas H. White purchased a Locomobile steam car but found its boiler to be unreliable. His son, Rollin, aimed to enhance its design. Rollin White created a distinctive water tube steam generator made up of a series of stacked coils. This generator featured two innovative aspects: the coils were interconnected at the top, allowing water to flow only when pumped, thus regulating steam generation; and it extracted steam from the lowest coil, which was nearest to the fire, allowing for temperature control of the steam. This second aspect was essential because the White steamer operated using superheated steam, taking advantage of steam’s characteristics at elevated temperatures. Rollin White secured a patent for his steam generator, US patent 659,837, in 1900.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
