The Eastern Caribbean dollar, denoted by the symbol EC$ and the code XCD, serves as the official currency for all seven full members and one associate member of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). This currency, which replaced the British West Indies dollar, has been in circulation since 1965. It is typically represented by the dollar sign $ or, to differentiate it from other dollar-based currencies, as EC$. The EC$ is divided into 100 cents and has been pegged to the United States dollar since July 7, 1976, with an established exchange rate of US$1 equating to EC$2.70.
