20 Pesos, P-S220r. The currency of Chile is the peso. The current iteration of the peso has been in circulation since 1975, following a previous version that was used from 1817 to 1960. Initially, the peso was divided into 100 centavos, but this subdivision was officially abolished on 31 May 1996, necessitating that all payments be made in whole pesos. As of July 2024, the exchange rate was approximately CLP940 for every US dollar. The current peso was established on 29 September 1975 through decree 1,123, which replaced the escudo at a conversion rate of 1 peso for 1,000 escudos. This version of the peso was also subdivided into 100 centavos until 1984.
