The company specializes in producing specialty chemicals and materials through two divisions: Grace Catalysts Technologies, which manufactures catalysts and associated products and technologies utilized in petrochemical, refining, and various chemical manufacturing processes, and Grace Materials and Chemicals, which produces specialty materials, such as silica-based and silica-alumina-based products, employed in pharmaceutical/consumer, coatings, and chemical processing applications. For a significant portion of its early history, Grace primarily operated in South America, engaging in maritime shipping, railroads, agriculture, and silver mining, employing around 30,000 individuals in Peru.Â
In the 1950s, the company began diversifying its operations and evolved into a Fortune 100 global conglomerate. Following a lengthy bankruptcy period lasting 12 years, which concluded in 2014, Grace divested its other major operating divisions. In 2015, the company transitioned into two independent public entities. The Catalysts and Material Technologies business segments remained with Grace, while the Construction Products and Darex Packaging Technologies businesses were transferred to what would later be known as GCP Applied Technologies Inc. In September 2021, Standard Industries acquired Grace's Catalysts and Material Technologies business segments.
Stock and Bond Specimens are made and usually retained by a printer as a record of the contract with a client, generally with manuscript contract notes such as the quantity printed. Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
