The corporation currently employs more than 2,400 people. Union Carbide focuses on the manufacture of chemicals and polymers that are usually further processed by customers before reaching end users. Its product range includes both high-volume commodities and specialized products designed for niche markets. The industries served include paints and coatings, packaging, wire and cable, household goods, personal care, pharmaceuticals, automotive, textiles, agriculture, and oil and gas. It is noteworthy that the company was previously a part of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
Founded in 1917 as the Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation through a merger with National Carbon Company, the organization’s researchers developed an economical method for producing ethylene from natural gas liquids, such as ethane and propane, thus establishing the groundwork for the modern petrochemical industry. Since then, the company has divested its consumer product lines, which included Eveready and Energizer batteries, Glad bags and wraps, Simoniz car wax, and Prestone antifreeze. Before its acquisition by Dow, Union Carbide also sold off several other divisions, including electronic chemicals, polyurethane intermediates, industrial gases (Linde), and carbon products.
Stock and Bond Specimens are made and usually retained by a printer as a record of the contract with a client, generally with manuscript contract notes such as the quantity printed. Specimens are sometimes produced for use by the printing company's sales team as examples of the firm’s products. These are usually marked "Specimen" and have no serial numbers.
