PACCAR Inc is a prominent American Fortune 500 corporation and ranks among the largest producers of medium- and heavy-duty trucks globally. The company is involved in the design, production, and customer support of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty trucks under the brands Kenworth, Peterbilt, Leyland Trucks, and DAF. Additionally, PACCAR designs and manufactures powertrains, offers financial services and information technology, and distributes truck parts related to its core operations.

Founded in 1905 by William Pigott Sr., Seattle Car Mfg. Co. initially focused on producing railway and logging equipment at its facility in West Seattle. In February 1908, the company inaugurated a state-of-the-art railcar manufacturing plant in Renton. However, the destruction of Seattle Car's Youngstown plant due to fire, along with the effects of the national financial panic of 1907, led the company into voluntary receivership. The new plant revitalized the business, and under the leadership of company president William Pigott (1860-1929) and vice president Oliver D. Colvin, the company navigated through these challenging times. In 1915, the company merged with Twohy Brothers of Portland, adopting the name Pacific Car and Foundry Company, which it maintained for the subsequent 55 years. In 1924, William Pigott transferred control of the company to American Car & Foundry Company.
