St. Louis, Kansas City, and Colorado Railroad operated from 1884 to 1905. Its successor was the Kansas City Rock Island Railway. The Kansas City Rock Island Railway was a subsidiary of the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad and was intended to serve as the terminal road in Kansas City for another subsidiary, the St. Louis, Kansas City, and Colorado Railroad, which would connect St. Louis to Hadsell near Gunn City. However, in 1904, the Kansas City Rock Island Railway did not reach Kansas City but instead stopped at Leeds.
A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
