The American Caramel Company, a prominent early U.S. caramel manufacturer, gained significant recognition for its practice of including baseball and other collectible cards in its products. This initiative played a pivotal role in the growth of vintage card collecting. Established in 1898 through the merger of three companies, the company acquired Milton Hershey’s successful Lancaster Caramel Company in 1900 for a substantial $1 million. This acquisition allowed Hershey to concentrate on nurturing his chocolate business. However, the American Caramel Company eventually ceased operations in the 1920s.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
