Zapata Producing and
Refining Company

Now being incorporated with a capital stock of $3,000,000.00 with offices in New York and Laredo, Texas.

Mr. M. N. Bensabat of New York City promoter of said concern, has recently negotiated for the control of the Webb Zapata Oil Company and the Zapata Oil and Gas Company of Laredo, Texas with leases holding in Zapata County, Texas approximating 22,000 acres on which is situated one of the most prominent shallow oil producing fields in the United States.

The field now has 14 producing wells of an average depth of 160 feet, with an average daily production approximating 75 barrels. The gravity of the oil produced is 18.2 Baumé and is of very high lubricating value.

This new company to be organized by Mr. Bensabat has already begun extensive development and plans to put down one hundred more shallow wells--five one thousand foot wells and one deep test well to not less than 3500 feet, and is adding extensive valuable lease holds to the present holdings, including properties in Mexico, Webb County, Texas and other districts.

The present production is being handled by trucks to the railway, and as soon as it averages a production of 200 barrels daily, a pipe line will be installed and a refinery will very likely be built at Laredo, Texas to handle this and other production.

Zapata County is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 13,889. Its county seat is Zapata. The county is named for Colonel José Antonio de Zapata, a rancher in the area who rebelled against Mexico.

Zapata County comprises the Zapata, TX Micropolitan Statistical Area.

The South Texas Oil Boom included wells drilled in Zapata County in the early 1920s through the work of Laredo industrialist Oliver Winfield Killam, a Missouri native who once served as an Oklahoma state legislator. It is east from the Mexico–United States border.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
