Transportation order for Gen. L. Perrine signed twice. Civil War Era!

General Lewis Perrine (Sept. 14, 1815 - Sept. 24, 1889) was born in Manalapan, Monmouth County, New Jersey. A General in the New Jersey militia, he served as New Jersey's Quartermaster General during the Civil War.

General Lewis Perrine graduated from Princeton University in 1838, studied for the bar, and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar in 1841 and settled in Trenton. Prior to the Civil War, served as 2nd Lieut.,10th US Infantry during the Mexican war. Union Civil War soldier, Capt.,CO.A-4th N.J. Militia; Capt., CO.K,10th N.J. Infantry, later Major. On Sept. 22, 1855, appointed Brigadier-General and Quartermaster-General of the State of New Jersey, in which office he continued until his death, having previously been appointed to the rank of Major-General, by special act of the New Jersey Legislature, in recognition of his long and efficient service to his state. During the war of the rebellion he had the care of various camps throughout the state, and ministered largely to comforts and health of the boys in blue.
