Sterling Precision company was incorporated in 1955. However, earlier components of this company were organized in 1898 and 1903. Until 1954 the firm was known as the Sterling Engine Co., a major manufacturer and distributor of replacement parts for automobile and agricultural equipment. In 1955 the name was changed to Sterling Precision Corp. On August 23, 1979, the company became Steego Corporation. This firm was also a major manufacturer and distributor of metal working machinery, freight load and solid waste handling equipment, and office related products. Steego acquired a manufacturer of files and binders named Elbe Products. The products are used in offices. Elbe albums are used by collectors for stamps and first-day covers. The American-La France-Foamite Corp. was another subsidiary of Sterling Precision.  The famous American-La France fire truck is still manufactured in a large plant in South Carolina. On December 20, 1991 the Industrial Equity (Pacific) Ltd. acquired Steego. This company has undergone a number of acquisitions.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
