Born in 1865, Alfonso was the eldest son of Giuseppe and Annie Marconi, and brother to Guglielmo. Alfonso assisted Guglielmo in his early experiments, famously firing the shot to relay success when Marconi transmitted over a hill in 1895 at the Villa Griffone. Alfonso worked for his brother's company and was a director of the American International Marine Communication Company. He died on April 25, 1936 in London.
