The Kolster Radio Corporation, a prominent early American electronics manufacturer, emerged during the late 1920s commercial radio boom. Formed in April 1928 from a corporate restructuring of Federal-Brandes Inc., the firm capitalized on its chief research engineer, Frederick A. Kolster’s, technical reputation and high-end receiver designs. It expanded rapidly into consumer home electronics and partnered with Columbia Phonograph Company to manufacture specialized radio receiving sets.

Despite its initial success and high-profile premium offerings, the corporation struggled to sustain its viability in a competitive market. Its heavy reliance on the premium luxury segment left it vulnerable to macroeconomic shifts, leading to bankruptcy in January 1930 after the October 1929 stock market crash. Domestic operations dissolved by 1931, but its legacy endured through its British subsidiary, Kolster-Brandes Ltd., which manufactured popular consumer radios and early affordable televisions for decades under ITT ownership.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
