Kansas City, Kansas, has a unique history, beginning with the incorporation of "old" Kansas City in 1872, which was governed by several early mayors, including James Boyle, C.A. Eidemiller, and Samuel McConnell. In 1880, it became a second-class city under Governor John St. John. By 1886, "new" Kansas City, Kansas, emerged through the consolidation of five municipalities: "old" Kansas City, Armstrong, Armourdale, Riverview, and Wyandotte. Wyandotte, the oldest of these, was founded in 1857 by the Wyandot Native Americans and Methodist missionaries.

The city's growth was significant in the 1890s as it became a streetcar suburb of Kansas City, Missouri. This expansion continued through the early 20th century, and by 1920, Kansas City, Kansas, surpassed 100,000 residents, placing it among the nation's 100 largest cities for several decades until the 1960s.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
