Stock printed by Columbian Bank Note Co., Chicago. This company was founded by John Geikie Wellstood in 1871 in Washington D.C. The American Bank Note Company acquired Columbian in 1879, and took over the contract printing similar designs on softer papers and with some color changes. While Wellstood was president of this company he modeled and partially engraved the backs of all the United States treasury-notes. In his day, he was the oldest living bank-note engraver in this country, and made many improvements in that class of work. Please specify color. Also available Green unissued at a lesser price.
