Washington & Jefferson vignettes by Hamilton Bank Note Co., NY. Rare! Lewis Gildersleeve Harriman (March 24, 1889 – January 7, 1973) was a prominent American banker. In 1929, he was appointed as a director of the American Founders' Corporation, taking over the position from George Rea. In 1943, he joined the board of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad Company. Two years later, in 1945, he became a member of the board of the Sterling Engine Company. In 1951, he was designated as a director of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York's Buffalo Branch, succeeding George G. Kleindinst from the Liberty Bank of Buffalo.
