Jackson is a city and the county seat of Madison County, Tennessee, United States. Located 70 miles (110 km) east of Memphis, Jackson serves as a regional trade hub for West Tennessee. According to the 2020 United States census, the city's population was 68,205. It is the central city of the Jackson, Tennessee metropolitan area, which is part of the Jackson-Humboldt, Tennessee combined statistical area. As the largest city in Madison County and the second-largest city in West Tennessee after Memphis, Jackson is notable for housing the Tennessee Supreme Court's courthouse for West Tennessee, established in 1834 when Jackson was a major city in the western part of the state.
