Stock printed by Franklin Lee Division-American Bank Note Co. The Lusk Corporation, founded by John D. Lusk in 1946, was a prominent real estate development firm primarily known for its extensive work in Southern California, particularly Orange County. Lusk's company played a significant role in shaping the region's landscape after World War II, building tens of thousands of homes, along with numerous shopping centers, office buildings, and industrial parks. He was recognized for his willingness to invest in areas that others considered too far from the established business centers, like Anaheim Hills and San Clemente. He initially started his career building custom homes in high-end areas like Beverly Hills and Brentwood-Bel Air, later expanding into a wide range of residential projects.

Beyond his development work, John Lusk was a notable philanthropist. He established an orphanage in Mexico, donated $4 million to create the Lusk Center for Real Estate Development at the University of Southern California, and supported various California Y.M.C.A.'s. In the early 1990s, during a downturn in the real estate market, Lusk stepped down as CEO of the company, citing the need for restructuring. He remained as chairman until his death in 1999. He is remembered as a pioneering builder who left a significant legacy in Southern California's real estate development and philanthropic endeavors.

A stock certificate is issued by businesses, usually companies. A stock is part of the permanent finance of a business. Normally, they are never repaid, and the investor can recover his/her money only by selling to another investor. Most stocks, or also called shares, earn dividends, at the business's discretion, depending on how well it has traded. A stockholder or shareholder is a part-owner of the business that issued the stock certificates.
