Andrew W. Mellon (1855-1937), Industrialist, Financier, and Art Collector. Truly one of America�s great financiers! Largely interested in coal, coke, and iron enterprises and aluminum manufacture, banking president, Mellon National Bank of Pittsburgh, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury (1921-32); U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain (1932-33). Over the years Mellon had acquired one of the world�s great art collections. In 1937 he announced the gift of his collection to the nation, together with funds to erect a building and establish a $5,000,000 endowment. Construction of the National Gallery of Art (Washington, DC) began before his death. This exceptional railroad stock is issued to Andrew W.
