Specimen Stock printed by American Bank Note Company, New York. The Locomobile Company of America was incorporated in June of 1899 by John Brisben Walker, editor and publisher of Cosmopolitan magazine, and Amzi Lorenzo Barber, who had made a fortune in asphalt. Earlier that year Walker had talked the Stanley brothers in Watertown, Massachusetts into selling out their steam car business for $250,000, and Walker had talked Barber into putting up precisely that figure for a half-interest in their new venture. Rare! Superb!
